Origami!

Character designs for the animation short film Origami! / Character designs pour le court-métrage d'animation Origami!

This film describes a samurai duel through a world all in Japanese folded paper (the famous Origami art).

I created the concept, the story, the synopsis and the designs as well, to be used as base for the artistic team realizing the movie. I am fascinated about the Japanese art of folding in addition to be passionate about the Kurosawa creations... 

Le film décrit un duel de samouraï dans un monde de papier plié japonais (le fameux art de l’origami).

J’en ai signé le concept, l’histoire, le synopsis ainsi que ses designs, destinés à servir de base à l’équipe artistique du court. Je suis en effet fasciné par l’art du pliage japonais en plus d’être un inconditionnel de Kurosawa…

Originally, the project, an EMCA graduation short film, has been mainly implemented by its two directors: Maxime Bordes (maxime-bordes.blogspot.com), my dear brother,  now 3D artist in the video game field, at Criterion Games (Electronic Arts) in Guildford (UK), and Charles Ferry, main designer of this project. Please have a look to his work, he is a very talented guy!

Unfortunately, the project has not been finished. Supported by these two accomplices, I have taken back the film direction and I am currently reworking on the story.

 

 Initialement, le projet, un film de fin d’étude de l’emca, a était principalement porté par ses deux réalisateurs: Maxime Bordes (maxime-bordes.blogspot.com), mon cher frère, désormais artiste 3D dans le jeux vidéo au sein du studio Criterion Games (Electronic Arts) à Guildford (UK), et par Charles Ferry , principal designer du projet. Je vous invite fortement à jeter un coup d’œil sur son merveilleux  travail, il est sacrément talentueux le bougre !

Le projet n’a hélas pas pu arriver à son terme à l’époque. Epaulé par ces deux compères, j’ai repris les rennes de la réalisation du film et je retravaille actuellement le scénario.

I can't say when our own schedule will match in order to resurrect this project, but I am already looking forward.  :)

J’ignore quand nos emplois du temps respectifs nous permettront de ressusciter ce projet mais je m’en réjouis d’avance.
